Breast Augmentation with Lift

Silicone vs. Saline - What's the difference?
Silicone Implants
A silicone breast implant consists of a silicone shell filled with silicone gel, as opposed to the saline solution used in saline implants. At this time, silicone implants are only available as fixed volume implants, meaning that they are filled to the desired size before the time of surgery. However, there are several options when choosing the outer silicone shell, with different kinds varying in texture, shape, profile, volume and thickness. Silcone-filled breast implants are approved by the FDA for use in women over the age of 22.

Saline Implants
A saline breast implant consists of a silicone shell filled with a saline solution, as opposed to the silicone gel used in silicone implants. There are two types of saline-filled implants currently available, fixed volume and adjustable volume. A fixed volume is completely inflated to the desired size at the time of surgery; an adjustable volume implant is filled intra-operatively and allows for post-operative adjustments. Both are approved by the FDA for use in women over the age of 18.
